About Us

Tech 4 Social Good fosters interdisciplinary dialogues and collaborations that situate STEM in social, cultural, and political contexts. Our project teams partner with communities to address key challenges through contextually-appropriate strategies. We also advocate for curricular changes that enable students to think about the pluralistic implications of technology. Ultimately, we welcome anyone interested in bridging the gap between the digital transformations that we see today and the societal inequities and biases that have been so ingrained into our society, our institutions, and even our personal values.

Mission Statement

Tech for Social Good (T4SG) primarily aims to shift technology’s role in bettering society and serving everyone equitably. The club fosters interdisciplinary dialogues and collaborations to explore the social and political dimensions of technologies and the cultural foundations of technological institutions. Our project teams partner with community-oriented organizations to drive tangible and positive changes, however small those changes may seem. We also advocate for curricular changes that allow students to understand the social context behind their STEM work, and provide the necessary resources and space for non-STEM students to have genuine conversations around how technology actually impacts their lives in pluralistic ways. Frequently, we host discussions, workshops, watch parties and campus-wide expos to bring different disciplinary perspectives together in acknowledging the influence our backgrounds and identities have had on our perceptions of contemporary technologies and their development into the future.
